| Prof. A. S. Khanna is
from Corrosion Science & Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay.
He is Ph.D in Metallurgy from Madras University, M.Tech from IIT Kanpur and M.Sc
in Chemistry from Delhi University. Born and brought up in Delhi (September
15, 1952), he left Delhi in 1974 to join BARC Bombay but was posted in IGCAR Kalpakkam.
After spending 15 years in Kalpakkam and acquiring good scientific skills, higher
education both in India and abroad, he joined IIT Bombay in 1991 and is today
a Sr. Professor in the Department of Metallurgical Engg. & Materials Science
with specialization in Corrosion Protection. A dedicated teacher, a good researcher,
active PRO to Industry, has several laurels to his credits, 5 Ph.D's, 90 M.Techs,
more than 150 publications, writer and editor of several books. He has widely
traveled and has several international collaborative projects. Prof.
Khanna had been Chairman ASM International India Chapter, Chairman Asia Pacific
Region, NACE International and Chairman SAEST Bombay Chapter and currently, he
is Chairman of SSPC. He has organized several successful National and International
Conferences on Corrosion and Corrosion Protection by coatings and several courses
which has created a wide awareness about corrosion in industry. Mrs Sushil
Khanna, wife of Prof. Khanna is also M.Sc and B.Ed. She taught in Central school
in Kalpakkam and IIT Powai for several years and at present in spite of some medical
problem, she takes care of house very ably. Prof. Khanna has a daughter
Yukti and son Vivek. Yukti is a very able training officer and has been just engaged
to a young boy, a banker, Sumeet in USA. Vivek is a hard working intelligent student
who has received meritorious award from Rotary twice during his 10th and 12th
standard exam. He is now in the final year of his Engineering in electronics.
